You are never too small to make a difference: Carlos Silvério

Every month, we challenge a team member to answer some questions about a project they are involved in or that has been notable in the past, what impact it had on the organization and, what it meant, for the lives of so many people. Today we share the testimony of our consultant Carlos Silvério.

Tell us about the impact your work has had on so many people's lives. Don't be
modest! Give us an example of a story that impacted you because you had
direct intervention in the before and after of an organization and what positive impact it has
it worked.

There have been several notable moments over the last few years, from the reconstruction projects for factories that were completely destroyed by the forest fires that occurred in 2017, to the projects implemented during the pandemic phase. However, speaking of a specific case, I highlight the implementation of a project related to tax benefits for investment that began in 2019, in which our work had a significant impact on its evolution.

It was a company with only one year of activity and with a reduced turnover, in which the businessman was hesitant in the decision to move forward, since it was the first time he had applied and this type of incentives and the return on short term might not be significant. After several preparatory meetings for the diagnosis of the project, in which we demonstrated the positive impacts that these incentives could have, not only in the short term, but also in the medium-long term, we decided to move forward with their implementation.

After 3 years of implementing the project, we can say that the company has more than quadrupled its turnover and has already benefited from more than a hundred thousand euros via tax incentives. This return not only allowed the company to invest in new equipment to become more competitive and increase its production capacity, but also allowed it to hire new jobs, having now tripled the number of employees. It was a remarkable episode because we have followed this growth since its creation!

Not only in this project, but also in others, it demonstrates the positive impact that these can have on companies, families and the Portuguese economy, which is extremely motivating and rewarding.

What do you love most about your work?

Learning and continuous growth and, without a doubt, knowing that we are in some way helping companies and, as a result, also countless Portuguese families.

Furthermore, each investment project arouses a particular interest as we work with companies from different sectors, which can range from industry to tourism, “forcing” you to know a little about the reality of each of them.
