Tell us a bit about your journey, where you come from, what and where your education was, and how long have you been with Yunit?
I was born and raised in a small village near the town of Mafra, attending all stages of my educational journey in the local schools. After completing secondary education, I chose to enroll in the Business Finance program at ISCAL, where I acquired a solid foundation of essential knowledge for my education. Throughout my years in college, I balanced studies with work and dedicated myself to personal projects that not only brought me great satisfaction but also significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth. In 2022, upon completing my degree, I took the first step in my professional journey by joining Yunit. Since then, I have been dedicated to solidifying my path within the company, celebrating my first year of experience and contribution to Yunit in December 2023.
Tell us about a project or moment that has particularly motivated or challenged you in an unexpected way.
All projects are important as we are constantly helping someone on the other side. However, I would highlight the first approval of an application, where I played a predominant role in a completely new program. This moment was truly motivating and challenging at the same time. The responsibility of participating in an innovative initiative and witnessing the initial success of that effort brought a gratifying sense of accomplishment and inspiration for future challenges.
How would you describe Yunit's culture?
Although it is my first professional experience, I highlight the relaxed atmosphere and collaborative spirit at Yunit. The company promotes a culture where mutual assistance is valued, providing a positive and friendly work environment. The relaxed atmosphere fosters creativity and innovation, allowing each team member to feel motivated and supported.
What advice would you give to someone who has just joined Yunit?
Don't be shy and make the most of every day. Yunit is an excellent place to learn and develop skills that not only make us better professionals but also better individuals.
If you hadn't chosen to work in a consultancy, is there any other industry you would have chosen?
If I hadn't opted to work in consultancy, I would probably have chosen the construction sector. The fascination for creating and developing tangible projects, combined with the opportunity to contribute to the transformation of the built environment, has always attracted me. Additionally, the housing crisis we are experiencing, along with having relatives in the industry, would be determining factors in choosing this sector.
Tell us about a hobby you have or an activity you really want to do someday!
I enjoy sports, and lately, I have been nurturing the desire to complete an Ironman. I consider this competition incomparable, representing a physical and mental challenge of extraordinary proportions, testing all limits of those who venture to participate.
What book, travel recommendation, or other activity has been impactful and you'd like to share with us?
A trip I made a few years ago with a childhood friend will forever be etched in my memory. We departed from Mafra to the Algarve on two motorbikes from the 70s and 80s. Carrying tents on our backs, some clothes, and many spare parts, we navigated only with the help of a paper map. For three days, we had a fantastic experience exploring a part of Portugal in a completely unique way. The average speed of the motorbikes was 45 km/h, giving us "plenty" of time to appreciate the beautiful landscapes of the southern part of our country. I recommend everyone to embark on a similar journey, combining adventure, discovery, and the true essence of exploring Portugal in a more tranquil and enriching way.
